Day two of the 6 Day Express diet and Slim In 6. I weighed myself this morning, and I’m down 2.2 pounds already! Sweet! I also want to share something with you that has greatly helped me, my weight loss, and my performance. Shakeology. If you haven’t tried it, what are you waiting for? With twenty pounds to lose yet, I’ve decided to switch things up a bit. Time for Slim In 6! It comes with everything you need; the Slim In 6 workout program, a bonus workout DVD, a resistance band, nutrition guides, and a measuring tape to keep track of your progress.
One of the nutrition guides is a 6 Day Express diet plan. There are actually three plans, depending on your goals. They’re meant to jump start your metabolism, so you get maximum results. Along with this jump start diet plan, they recommend you workout twice a day, which I did. I really thought that between the reduction of calories and working out twice a day, I’d be whooped, but I actually feel really good.
Before I get to my own weight loss story, let me tell you about how I became over-weight. It can be traced back to when I was about fourteen. Diagnosed with double-S curve scoliosis, it had progressed to the point where my back hurt everyday. Not just a little soreness, but real pain. By the time I reached my twenties, the daily pain had taken it’s toll on me, and I started to self-medicate with alcohol. Friday and Saturday nights, after several beers, were the only relief I had from it. Of course, I tried other remedies as well…chiropractic care, physical therapy, etc…none of it worked. So beer was the answer! haha! It also compounded the problem. Besides all the other unhealthy effects of drinking every weekend, it also made me fat. All that extra weight being lugged around on my stomach just strained my back even more.
It’s funny how the weight creeps up on you too. I stayed in denial of my weight for so long. When I first started to realize just how out of shape I had become, I didn’t think there was anything I could do about it. Genetics. We’re all destined to look like our parents, right? At least, that’s what everyone says. Of course, with obesity at epidemic proportions in this country, it’s no wonder entire families are over-weight.
So what changed my mind? I was up one sleepless night, and saw an infomercial for P90X. Get ripped in 90 days? You’ve got to be kidding me! Everyone knows these infomercial gimmicks don’t work! Seeing that laid a seed in my head though…what if I could lose weight at home? I would love to find a solution, and do it at home. No spending 20-30 minutes driving to the gym, no gym membership fees, and not looking like a fool around all those ripped gym rats while I struggle to bend over far enough to tie my shoe laces.
I came back to P90X. I went to the Beachbody site, and started looking at the picture galleries. People are getting results with this. It is working. I was still skeptical though. Well, this is the company’s own website. Maybe these people aren’t real, and all these pictures are photoshopped. It wasn’t until a friend of mine mentioned on Facebook that her husband had done it, and posted pictures of his results, that I decided to go for it. Best decision I’ve made in the last ten years!
So where am I at today? I started out 60 pounds over-weight, and after two rounds of P90X, I’ve lost 40 pounds of fat!! It’s mind blowing! I breathe better, have way more energy, and more endurance than when I started. Looking better is just a bonus! The best part is, thanks to Yoga X, my back pain is gone!
I’m still on my journey to a new me though. I’m starting another Beachbody program, Slim In 6, and those last 20 pounds are going to be blasted away! I’m so thrilled with my own transformation, now I want to inspire and help others do the same. That’s why I decided to become an Independent Beachbody Coach. If I can do it, you can do it!
